About Yao
Yao is a renowned watercolor artist and designer based in Columbus, Ohio. Her passion for painting began in childhood and has continued to flourish today. Over a decade ago, she discovered watercolor and the immediate joy it can bring to the painting process. It remains to be her go-to medium in her work today!

Founded in 2012, Yao Cheng Design is an art and design studio where Yao’s bright watercolors come to life through products and licensing projects. In her work, Yao is always striving to capture life’s beauty through fluid brush strokes and unpredictable colors. The result is work that is captivating and emotionally moving!
Yao has connected deeply to art since taking an art class at the age of 4. Being able to pick up a pencil and create her own world of ideas was profound. She went on to dive deeper into Painting and Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and worked in the corporate fashion industry before creating her own art studio.
